Subject: Grade A
Jerry was as "on" as you could expect. The whole show was very nice. Excellent first set features a great Sugaree, Peggy-o and Bertha. 2nd set has the killer Might As Well and the breakout Baby Blue, which was stunning. Jerry had it all going for him.
This was another great '81 show.

Subject: going down the road
This was my first west coast show, having hitch hiked across the USA and I loved all the traveling songs they did, including On the Road Again, Know You Rider and Going Down the Road Feeling Bad ... it was a very high energy show with a poignant Baby Blue for an encore. It was the culmination of a journey and I will simply never forget this show.

Agree on the sound..does get better after awhile but still an aud. I always enjoyed Baby Blue as an encore – before this night they hadn’t played it since 02/24/74. Played it pretty regularly until the early 90’s after that..wonder why they took the break, oh well. Diggin the china cat too!!

Another overlooked gem offered by the LMA. The recording sounds a bit distant at first even thought the Sugaree is dripping with Garcia filligries that pepper the meth-induced Seattle crowd. I am listening to the pre-drumz portion of the second set and am pleasantly surprised at the sound improvement. Sounds like the taper adjusted to the system at the coliseum and moved up a bit. This show with a little filler from Portland the next night is fun for the whole family!!

Subject: Smokin' Sugaree - one of the best
This is one of my all time favorite Sugaree's. The band was rockin all night, but Jerry slid into the groove on Sugaree and took the crowd into the stratosphere. Great dynamics. A very nice Peggy-O as well. The recording is a little heavy on the bass, but that is how it sounds in the Seattle Center.
